CamStreamer Brings NDI® to AXIS IP Cameras
October 16, 2022 by Oscar Lazaro
CamStreamer s.r.o., a developer of ACAP apps for live streaming and cloud solutions exclusively for Axis cameras, today announces support for software-driven IP workflows using NDI®.
Joining the industry’s largest IP ecosystem, CamStreamer s.r.o. integrates NDI® into a NDI®|HX Plugin for Axis Cameras to be recognizable as a source, by other NDI®-enabled applications and devices connected to a standard Ethernet local area network.
NDI®, the worlds preferred technology for moving media-over-IP, and part of the Vizrt Group, allows video and audio sources to be shared bi-directionally across a network, eliminating the need for costly direct connections, expensive cable runs, and infrastructure upgrades while turning every source into a destination, instantly available anywhere on the network.
The NDI®|HX Plugin for Axis Cameras brings the NDI® functionality to AXIS IP cameras. With NDI®, the cameras are now able to be visible on the network within the NDI® framework. The plugin also delivers two livestreaming outputs, one in HQ and one in LQ for easy previews. It also allows the control of the camera’s tally light, audio, and PTZ positions.
With the NDI®|HX Plugin for Axis Cameras, the user can set the livestream quality, select the streaming channel, and customize the framerate as well as GOP length. The plugin is installed on the camera and does not require any additional hardware. The utilization of HX2 makes the plugin accessible to a wide array of Axis camera models equipped with ARTPEC-6/7/8 processors and with FW 10.9 or higher.
“We are happy to introduce NDI®|HX Plugin for Axis Cameras to our clients. The smart plugin runs directly in the camera and makes it NDI®-enabled. This allows our clients to livestream on a professional level,” says David Capoušek, CEO, CamStreamer s.r.o. “AXIS cameras equipped with NDI®|HX Plugin is a complete broadcasting solution for a fraction of the price of regular studio cameras.”
“Software-driven IP workflows are mission critical in today’s video production,” states Will Waters, Global Head of Product Management, NDI, “it’s all about flexibility, connectivity, interoperability, and telling the best story.”
“NDI-enabled devices like AXIS cameras exponentially increase the video sources available for live production creating more freedom for customers to move video, and audio, better, offering new workflows to customers. We are excited to welcome CamStreamer to the NDI partner ecosystem and the opportunities it will bring to the market, furthering the NDI revolution.”
